- Country Artist Scotty McCreery Takes JCCC Stage to Benefit Scholarships
October 11, 2021
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College announces that the Cohen Community Series will present multi-Platinum country star Scotty McCreery in concert in the Midwest Trust Center’s Yardley Hall on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 8 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships. Tickets start at $25 and go on sale Oct. 18. A limited number of VIP tickets, which include a meet-and-greet opportunity with the artist, are available for $155. VIPs will be notified closer to the concert date if COVID protocols cause a change in plans. No discounts apply. Get the best seats at the best price when you buy early at jccc.edu/Scotty.
The ACM and CMT Award winning McCreery is one of current country music’s most popular artists and has built a strong catalog of fan favorite songs over the last 10 years, including a streak of four consecutive No. 1 hits: “Five More Minutes,” “This is It,” “In Between,” and his most recent one (just last month), “You Time.” He recently released his fifth album, Same Truck, which features his new single, “Damn Strait.” The 27-year-old singer/songwriter, who has been married to his high school sweetheart for three years, often writes songs about his personal life and observations, giving listeners the opportunity to learn more about him through his music.
About the Artist
The North Carolina native was catapulted into stardom when he won season 10 of “American Idol” a decade ago. He launched his recording career in 2011 as the first country artist, and youngest male artist of any genre, to debut his first studio album at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
Since then, McCreery has earned one double Platinum, four Platinum and two Gold singles, performed for a president, opened for Garth Brooks, toured with Old Dominion, Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts, wrote a book (Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream) and made Steve Harvey laugh on “Celebrity Family Feud.”
He continues to delight fans around the world with a steady stream of hummable hits. The Triple Tigers recording artist recently released his fifth studio album, Same Truck, with 10 of its 12 songs co-written by him. His lead single, “You Time,” has climbed to the top of the country radio charts. McCreery recently performed his second single from the album, “Damn Strait,” on NBC’s “Today” show. Whether he’s singing about loss (“The Waiter”), love (“You Time”), passion (“That Kind of Fire”) or faith (“How Ya Doin’ Up There?”), he pulls audiences into every one of his songs with an openness that has them singing along, eager to see what’s next.
About the Cohen Community Series

Previous Cohen Community Series performers include Roots & Boots (Sammy Kershaw, Collin Raye and Aaron Tippin), Phil Vassar, Josh Turner, Lonestar, Sawyer Brown, Tracy Lawrence, Diamond Rio, George Will, Marcus Buckingham and Vince Gill.###
