Common questions about PTK
How do I join PTK?
To join, you must be currently enrolled and have completed 12 credit hours at JCCC. You must also have a 3.5 GPA. Invitations are sent after the drop deadline, or the 20th day of the semester.
- If you have questions about PTK requirements, email Anne Dotter at adotter@jccc.edu or stop by GEB 140.
- If you have been invited and have received your membership acceptance code, you can accept membership on the Phi Theta Kappa website.
If I join PTK, am I automatically in the JCCC Honors Program?
Phi Theta Kappa is separate from the JCCC Honors Program, and joining PTK does not automatically enroll you in JCCC Honors, even if you meet the eligibility requirements.
As a Phi Theta Kappa member, what is required of me?
Nothing! However, the more you put into PTK, the more you will get out of it, but the level of engagement is up to you. Being active in PTK makes you a better candidate for scholarships and can help build up your resume. For more information on how to get involved, stop by GEB 140.
What is the PTK Induction Ceremony? Is it mandatory?
The Phi Theta Kappa Induction Ceremony happens once a semester to recognize new PTK members and formally induct them into our chapter. This is a wonderful event to bring your friends and family to, and is an opportunity to meet fellow PTK members, officers, and advisors.
The PTK Induction Ceremony is voluntary. For questions about the Induction Ceremony, email Anne Dotter or stop by GEB 140.
As a PTK member, will I be recognized at graduation?
Yes! PTK offers exclusive memorabilia for members to wear at graduation, and there is PTK annotation on students’ diplomas.
What four-year universities give PTK scholarships?
The answer to this and many more questions can be found on the PTK page of the Honors blog!
The JCCC Honor Roll recognizes all students who achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Students who are recognized as part of either the Dean’s list (GPA between 3.5 and 3.99) or the President’s list (4.0 GPA) are automatically invited to join the Honors Program.
