CLEAR students who attend expansion classes learn life skills necessary for independent living while building strong friendships along the way.

Each class meets for one hour per week for 14 weeks each semester. Students attending weekday classes are learning independent living skills and are responsible for getting to their classrooms on their own. While on campus, students are encouraged to participate in other JCCC activities before or after class.

All students must meet attendance criteria. Students new to the program must call the CLEAR office to set up an appointment for an enrollment interview. For an interview, call the CLEAR office at 913-469-7890.

Students may attend classes in one of two ways, independently or through their 18-21 post high program. Those attending independently will receive enrollment sent directly to them each semester. For those attending with a post high, high school transition staff will assist students in registering for CLEAR expansion classes and may also provide information about academic achievement classes, lifetime fitness programs and other campus activities. CLEAR expansion class enrollment is processed through the CLEAR office. Registration for all other credit or non-credit classes is done through the regular JCCC enrollment process.

Electronic Registration

Electronic registration is the preferred method for enrollment.  Students who wish to pay their fees using a card or e-check should complete the electronic enrollment form. Enrollment will open on May 1 at 8 a.m. and close on May 31 at 5 p.m.

Please note: you will receive a receipt from Marketplace after completing your electronic enrollment.  This is your proof of registration.  You will not receive communication from the SEP staff until your schedule is e-mailed to you.  If you have not received your schedule after August 20, you may contact the office at that time.

Paper Registration
Only students who need to make payment using cash or money order or who cannot access the electronic registration should use the paper enrollment form. The same enrollment periods will be open for paper forms.

College Academy

College Academy courses are designed for students who may wish to enter an Inclusive Post-secondary Program, such as JCCC’s CONNECT program, in future semesters or who wish to have a higher level of academic coursework during their CLEAR experience.  These courses will require reading, writing and may potentially have homework or more in-depth projects to complete in class.

  4. Do not enter the electronic form more than once. You will be charged each time. If you need to make changes or adjustments after submitting, please e-mail the Coordinator at cmarx@jccc.edu.
  5. Please view the webpage for information on certificate tracks. If you previously selected a track, you will automatically continue in that program without reselecting a track. You will not receive any communication from the SEP office until schedules are released.  If you do not receive your schedule by August 20 you may contact the SEP office after that date.

Please note- classes fill very quickly.  We make every effort to ensure that students are placed in either their first or second choice classes, but it is not always possible.  Please enroll early to ensure your best chance of your preferred classes.

Please follow the step-by-step instructions below to complete the electronic registration form.

  1. Only students who wish to pay in cash or who cannot access our web form should use the paper registration forms. All others paying by card or e-check should see the electronic registration instructions.
  2. Registrations will be accepted 5/1/24-5/31/24. Late enrollments will be accepted as space is available. Registrations are processed in the order in which they are received. Paper registrations can be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed to the contact information below.
  3. Please rank all classes in your chosen time period by marking them with a 1, 2 or 3 in the blanks. This assists us in choosing the right class for you if your first and second choices are full at the time of your enrollment. If you only rank a first choice and that class is full, you will not be placed in a class in that hour.
  4. Please see the website for information on certificate tracks. If you previously selected a track, you will automatically continue in that program without reselecting a track. You may not have more than two tracks selected at a time and you may only earn one certificate in each track.
