Personal Assessments Tools

Contact us at careerdevelopment@jccc.edu to set up assessments.

  • FOCUS2Career Assessment

The Focus2Career assessment is a self-paced online career guidance tool. It features 5 mini self-assessments that look at your work interests, personality, values, skills, and leisure interests. The results of all 5 assessments are combined to produce a list of occupations that may be a good fit for you. That list acts as a conversation guide. Focus2 also provides a direct way to search careers based off of your college major. This assessment is a quick way to learn about yourself and different careers. It takes 20-30 minutes to complete, and you will get your results immediately.

To create your account and begin this assessment, create an account at Focus2Career.com. Use the access code: explore. Once you've established your account, you can log in to Focus2Career.com at any time and begin charting your interests.

  • Strong Interest Inventory (SII)

The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) is an in-depth, official version of the Work Interest Assessment. If you take this assessment, you may see similar results to the Focus2. The difference is that the SII compares your interests to those of people in different fields/positions. This one is more accurate and researched than Focus2, but it only looks at your work interests. This assessment is 291 questions and usually takes 45-60 minutes.

You must set up an appointment with a Career Coach to take this assessment and receive your results.

  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

This online test assesses your personality type preferences and compares them with type preferences for various occupations. Contact a Counseling to take the MBTI.
