Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is an excellent starting place for students who want to ultimately earn a bachelor’s degree. Students earn valuable college credits at affordable tuition rates that transfer seamlessly to many four-year colleges and universities.

With another successful National Transfer Student Week (October 21-25, 2024), JCCC continues to build awareness and create solutions for the common struggles faced by students interested in earning college credits to transfer to another college or university.

These students see value in earning quality, affordable college credits at JCCC that they could apply toward a bachelor’s degree elsewhere, but navigating the details can prove daunting.

JCCC’s Career and Transfer Services department supports students through the process. It provides personalized transfer advisors, coordinates monthly visits from admissions representatives and advisors from regional colleges and universities, and offers a dedicated Transfer Center where students can ask questions and get answers.

They also maintain a complete library of transfer agreements between JCCC and other colleges and universities and a directory of area admissions representatives and program-specific agreements.

RooMentum Pathways

JCCC is proud to partner with the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) on a RooMentum Pathways partnership that creates a seamless transfer experience for JCCC students looking to continue their education at UMKC. Learn more about the RooMentum Pathways program at UMKC.

Through RooMentum Pathways, JCCC students can benefit from:

  • Scholarships: JCCC students with a qualifying GPA can receive merit-based awards between $2,500 and $3,500 when they transfer to UMKC.
  • Academic Support: Students receive personalized advising and resources to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Dual Enrollment: Participants can enroll in courses at both institutions, accelerating their path to a bachelor’s degree.

JCCC has other pre-existing transfer agreements with the UMKC Bloch School of Management, Conservatory of Music and Dance, School of Dentistry, School of Medicine, and more. Visit JCCC’s transfer page to learn more.

New K-State Articulation Agreement

JCCC and Kansas State University (K-State) now have an articulation agreement that allows students who graduate with a Business Administration, Associate of Applied Science (BA-AAS) degree from JCCC to transfer up to 73 credit hours to K-State's Personal Financial Planning Bachelor of Science degree. The agreement accepts all courses outlined in JCCC’s BA-AAS degree. JCCC students will only have 47 credit hours to complete their bachelor's degree at K-State if they complete the AAS in Business Administration and a fifth semester at JCCC.

“This agreement benefits students by providing a clear pathway to a bachelor’s degree that will serve as either a launchpad or an enhancement to a promising career,” said Dr. Leroy Cox, Dean of Business at JCCC. “I am extremely pleased that our two institutions have established this agreement and hope our students who have an interest in finance will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Seamlessly Transfer Credits In-State

Over the past several years, the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) has developed a Systemwide General Education framework to make transferring credits within the Kansas public higher education system easier for all students.

The 2024-2025 academic year is the first year Systemwide General Education took effect at all Kansas state community colleges, Washburn University, and the six state universities. Completing general education credit hours at JCCC (or other participating colleges) will also count toward degree requirements at the institution they transfer to (unless an exception for a specific program has been approved by KBOR).

More details can be found on KBOR’s website.
