Prepare for employment in just two semesters 

Our 24-credit hour certificate is designed to teach you the demands of the firefighting profession. Engage in these applicable courses:

  • EMS 129: Emergency Medical Responder
  • FIRE 112: Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations
  • FIRE 113 Firefighter I
  • FIRE 114: Firefighter II
  • FIRE 115: Firefighter Practicum
  • EMS 132: Emergency Medical Technician

The certificate in Fire Administration is offered as a step in the process of receiving an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science.

Strengthen your knowledge with JCCC

In JCCC’s Fire Science program, you will gain the knowledge and skills to advance in a Fire Science career. Throughout our Fire Science courses, you’ll learn about: 

  • Firefighter safety
  • Fire Behavior
  • Protective clothing and equipment
  • Firefighting techniques
  • Emergency response contingency plans
  • Fire investigation and laws of arson
  • Fire codes

The College works in close cooperation with the Johnson County Fire Chiefs Association. Because of our partnership with the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute at the University of Kansas, your JCCC credits will transfer if you choose to earn an advanced degree. Arrange an appointment with a Counselor to discuss your plans and ensure a smooth transfer experience.
