Do you dream of fantastic fashions and wish you had the skills to make them a reality? JCCC’s Apparel Design and Technology program will equip you with the skills you need to pursue a design career in the fashion industry.
With an associate’s degree in Apparel Design and Technology from JCCC, you’ll develop creative and problem-solving skills used by fashion designers. You’ll be prepared to compete for entry-level positions as a stylist, costume designer or fashion consultant. Or you can transfer your degree to a four-year school for additional training and broader career opportunities in the fashion industry.
What will you learn in JCCC Apparel Design and Technology courses?
- Practice taking a design from concept to creation to production and see your fashion ideas come to life.
- Get hands-on experience using the design and management software the pros use, including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Learn key business techniques to support your success.
- Create a collection of original designs and share them through the annual Fashion Merchandising and Design Fashion Show.
Study Apparel Design and Technology at JCCC and get inspired
- Develop a portfolio to showcase your skills in illustration, computer-aided design and pattern making so you can compete for great entry-level jobs.
- Gain fashion inspiration from the JCCC Historical Fashion Collection, which includes more than 1,500 pieces of designer apparel.
- Get hands-on experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software. JCCC’s program is one of only a few that include this platform in its course of study.
- Earn course credit for travel to New York City and Las Vegas for industry trade shows.
- Gain key contacts and network with your peers and potential mentors through internships and events.
- Meet new fashion-minded friends through the Fashion Merchandising and Design Club.
